Bridget Nuno - 2025 Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Science & Math Teacher Bridget Nuno B'03, recipient of the 2025 Exemplary Teacher Award.
The Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher Award annually highlights a faculty member who goes beyond the basic job description of being a teacher at Bellarmine. The award winner must exemplify the Jesuit ideals in his/her life and teaching, exhibit quality instruction in the classroom, a mastery of his/her subject area, and contribute to bettering the Bellarmine community.
Here are a few quotes and highlights from the speech delivered about Ms. Nuno at the Academic Awards Ceremony on May 19.
“Ms. Nuno understands that learning is personal and emotional, not just academic, and she supports students as whole individuals and challenge us to grow, not just to earn a score.”
"She doesn’t just preach it—she practices it. She truly cares about her advocacy and community. Her passion for the environment and for education is contagious."
“She models what it means to live with integrity and purpose.”
Ms. Nuno lives out the Jesuit value of cura personalis — care for the whole person — not only through her classroom teaching, but also through their advocacy work, leadership and mentorship across campus.
She leads Bellarmine’s sustainability initiatives and is a passionate steward of our environment and our Common Home. She encourages students to think critically, act responsibly, and care deeply about the world around them.
In addition to her environmental leadership, she co-leads the Marine Chemistry program, teaches in both the Math and Science Departments and serves as President of the Faculty and Staff Senate.
It is evident that this teacher’s impact reaches far beyond lesson plans and grades.
It is Bellarmine's great privilege to name Mrs. Bridget Nuno as the 2025 Elizabeth Kelley Exemplary Teacher Award Recipient.
