Easter Message from Bellarmine Preparatory School President & Principal

 

Dear Bellarmine Community,

Could there be a more powerful message for Easter? How is it that God’s timing is so impeccable?

These past few weeks have brought many graces to the Bellarmine community. A holy journey of pain, loss, surrender, gratitude and hope. This Lenten season began with our Ash Wednesday All School Mass, a moment now held with even deeper meaning as it was Fr. Jerry Chapdelaine, S.J.’s final Mass on campus. Ashes were shared symbolizing our imperfections and messiness as people of faith. We were invited to turn away from the darkness and sin, and choose to step into the light and love of Jesus. During this Mass, we also had the privilege of blessing Fr. Jerry – a prayer for comfort, acceptance and care for whatever lay ahead. It was a moment of grace that continues to echo in our hearts. 

As we fully embraced the Lenten season, we engaged in prayer, retreats, reflection and moments of shared grief. Throughout this sacred time, our students, alumni, families and employees led with reverence, truly modeling the spirit of Lent. In God’s perfect timing, we witnessed Fr. Jerry’s peaceful pilgrimage home to eternal life – the promised land. Both Fr. John Fuchs, S.J. and Fr. Aaron Engebretson, S.J. reminded us that Fr. Jerry’s passing, and remarkable life of service, is a powerful invitation to examine our own hearts and readiness as we enter Holy Week. 

With a twinkle in his eye, Fr. Jerry guided our hearts to the cross. Isn’t this something? God is indeed present in all things. As Christians, there is nothing more central to our faith than the crucifixion and resurrection; the cross is always the way. 

We pray you take time to be still in God’s presence this week, and know with certainty that you are truly loved. As your President and Principal, we are honored and blessed to serve the Bellarmine community.
