Dear Bellarmine Community,
On behalf of Bellarmine, we are pleased to announce Mr. Michael (Mike) Chambers B’97 as the next Principal of Bellarmine Preparatory School.
Mr. Chambers brings over two decades of experience in Jesuit education and leadership, rooted in a love for Ignatian spirituality, excellence in teaching and learning, and care for the whole person.
Mr. Chambers currently serves as the Associate Provincial Assistant for Pre-Secondary and Secondary Education for the Jesuits West Province. He has led sponsorship and endorsement review visits across Jesuit schools in the province, guided comprehensive formation programs for boards, faculty and staff, and worked closely with principals, presidents, and provincial leadership to strengthen Jesuit identity and mission. He has also collaborated at the national level through his work with the Jesuit Schools Network, including service on committees that updated the Standards and Benchmarks for all Jesuit schools.
Mr. Chambers previously served as Principal of St. Andrew Nativity School in Portland, providing academic and spiritual leadership to the school community. His background includes experience in the classroom, athletics, administration, strategic and financial planning and fundraising. As principal, he increased enrollment and fundraising outcomes while advancing school-wide operations, resulting in marked academic and formational growth for students.
Mr. Chambers holds a bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from Gonzaga University, a master’s degree in teaching, and both initial and professional administrator licenses from the University of Portland. He currently serves on numerous boards, including Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle and SEEL Puget Sound.
I want to extend my gratitude to the members of the Principal Search Committee for their countless volunteer hours dedicated to reviewing applications and interviewing candidates. We are also sincerely grateful for the faculty, staff, alumni, benefactors, parents and students who generously shared their voices through focus groups and surveys, helping to guide and shape this discernment process. Finally, we offer our appreciation to the team at Partners in Mission, whose thoughtful work to understand the values and culture of the Bellarmine community provided invaluable insight and support in identifying the best candidate to lead our school forward.
We are confident that Mr. Chambers’ experience, Ignatian leadership, and grounding in Jesuit education will greatly serve Bellarmine Preparatory School as we continue to form students who are men and women for others into our next 100 years.
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Mike Chambers back to the Bellarmine hill.
Go Lions!
