Dan Shaw B'94

Daniel graduated from Bellarmine in 1994 and was a three-year starter at defensive back and played running back.  While at Bellarmine he also lettered in basketball and baseball.  After graduation Dan received a football scholarship to Pacific Lutheran University where he played for three years.  In 1998 he graduated from PLU with a B.A. in history. After college he went on to attend Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN. where he received a Master of Divinity degree in 2002.  In the summer of 2002, he was ordained as a Lutheran pastor, and now serves as the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tacoma, WA.  In the fall of 2003 Dan was commissioned as an LTJG officer, chaplain, in the United States Naval Reserves.  In September of 2007, now as a LT, he was deployed with the United States Marine Corps to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was stationed at Al Asad, Rawah, Mudaysis and Al Qa’im.  At the conclusion of the deployment he was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his service.  He returned in April of 2008.  He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in August of 2011.  He currently serves as a chaplain for Navy Region Hawaii at Pearl Harbor.  In January of 2009 he was married to his wife Kim.  They have three children, Luke B'28. Elijah B'29 and Chance.
